Аналіз реакції на ідеї Ч. В. Еліота в науковому просторі США

Abstract

Статтю присвячено дослідженню сприйняття постаті та новацій 22 президента Гарварду Ч.В. Еліота науковцями, освітянами, письменниками, філософами та ін. В роботі представлені два табори, на які розділилася освітня еліта США: ті, хто підтримував організаційно–педагогічні кроки з поліпшення надання освітніх послуг, та ті, хто наполягали на продовженні класичних традицій у вищій школі. Надані факти дають змогу оцінити неймовірний вплив цієї персоналії на хід еволюції вищої освіти США. This paper investigates 22 Harvard President C.W Eliot’s personality and innovations perception by scholars, educators, writers, philosophers, etc. The paper presents the two camps into which the educational elite of the U.S. divided, those who supported the organizational and pedagogical steps to improve the educational services and those who insisted on the continuation of the classical traditions in higher education. Facts presented in the article allow us to estimate the impact of this incredible personality on the U.S. higher education evolution.
