Abstract: What is really needed is to make students aware of existing translation strategies and teach them how to choose the most suitable one in a particular situation. Conclusion In teaching legal English, as the analysis of the learner’s needs indicates, efficient development of basic communicative skills is harnessed to the skill of terminology translation. A system-bound nature of legal terms accounts for considerable cognitive effort and significant amounts of time spent by the teacher, especially when he/she is neither a native speaker nor an expert in law, preparation for activities aimed at describing students’ own legal system as well as comparing and contrasting it to those of the UK or US.
