Yamna/Budzhak culture of northwest pontic: pottery (catalog)

Abstract

The monograph is catalog of the pottery found in the burials of the Yamna/Budzhak culture of the North-west Pontic region (drawings and photographs). Scientists from different countries are interested in studying the archaeological collections from Ukrainian museums, but do not have such an opportunity now. This also applies to a large part of the collection of pottery from the Northwestern Pontic region. This catalog contains a classification and typology of pottery, the predominant category of the grave goods of Budzhak culture, accounting for more than 40% of the total number of finds. Graphical tables comprise whole forms of pottery and reconstructions of fragmented vessels, and the publication of photographs will give a better understanding of the form and ornamentation of the vessels. The proposed classification provides possibilities for comparative analysis of the ceramic assemblage. The catalog will be interesting and useful to scientists who study archaeological cultures of Europe in IV-III millennium BC, problems of contacts and interrelations, migrations and colonization in Early Bronze Age, questions of import and imitations of artifacts. Монографія є каталогом кераміки, знайденої в похованнях ямно-буджацької культури Північно-Західного Понтійського регіону (малюнки та фотографії). Вчені з різних країн зацікавлені у вивченні археологічних колекцій українських музеїв, але зараз не мають такої можливості. Це також стосується значної частини колекції кераміки Північно-Західного Понтійського регіону. Графічні таблиці містять цілі форми кераміки та реконструкції фрагментованих посудин, а публікація фотографій дозволить краще зрозуміти форму та орнаментацію посудин. Запропонована класифікація дає можливість для порівняльного аналізу керамічного комплексу. Каталог буде цікавим і корисним науковцям, які досліджують археологічні культури Європи IV-III тис. до н.е., проблеми контактів і взаємозв’язків, міграції та колонізації в епоху ранньої бронзи, питання імпорту та імітації артефактів.
