Abstract: The foreign policy identity of the state is now being formed by a number of factors including cultural component as one of the most important drivers. The cultural sector of mankind's development is constantly transformed due to the growing importance of the mass media and information technologies. Their spread is facilitated by the global ties existing between the states and societies in all the sectors of contemporary life. The purpose of this study is to identify the social and cultural features forming the foreign policy identity of the state under the conditions of globalization with relation to changes in political and social values in Ukraine and the specific nature of their extrapolation within the society during the period of the transitive development of the state. Preparing this work, the author used general scientific principles of cognition of the social phenomena; dialectical, activity, systemic and prognostic approaches which allowed revealing specific features of formation and development of the foreign policy identity as a political and social construct being under the globalization changes. The usage of the interdisciplinary approach is conditioned by the nature of the «foreign policy identity» concept which was formed through the active development of various sciences. The foreign policy identity of the state is determined to have plural manifestations and multiple levels, since it is a dynamic category. It varies both due to the state and society cooperation and due to the state and significant «Others» collaboration on the international arena as well. Thus, the foreign policy identity is constantly forming at the internal and external policy levels and cannot be taken for granted. The foreign policy activity of the state and its interaction with the «Others» determine the latters' position on the place of the subject concerned within the framework of a certain system of international relations, that is the group membership of its society at the global level is articulated. In the era of globalization, this process is constantly influenced by the mass culture and the mass media which can distort the formation of the foreign policy identity of the state while impacting its society. Their destructive influence can be avoided through the dialogue between representatives of the state authorities and the society stressing the latter's traditional markers of identity, i.e. historical memory, language, and symbols.
