Хештег як інструмент спротиву: соціальні мережі та мережеві практики протесту

Abstract

У сучасному гібридному інформаційному просторі актуальність дослідження ролі хештегів як інструменту спротиву постійно зростає. Це пов’язано з трансформацією соціальних медіа на ключові арени для політичної мобілізації та формування громадської думки. В умовах посилення цензури та інформаційних війн, хештеги виявляють здатність об’єднувати розрізнені голоси, створювати хвилі солідарності та обходити обмеження, роблячи протестні рухи видимими й впливовими. Метою цього дослідження є комплексний аналіз еволюції соціальних медіа як платформ для спротиву та вивчення ключових характеристик хештегів як ефективного засобу мобілізації в децентралізованих рухах. Ми прагнемо з’ясувати, як хештеги впливають на динаміку протестів та формування громадської думки. Методи дослідження включали теоретичний аналіз наукової літератури з медіакомунікацій, політичної соціології та цифрової активності, а також компаративний аналіз конкретних кейсів використання хештегів у протестних рухах. Було вивчено приклади від «Арабської весни» до #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo, #FridaysForFuture, протестів у Гонконзі та українського досвіду спротиву в контексті повномасштабного вторгнення. In the contemporary hybrid information space, the relevance of researching the role of hashtags as a tool of resistance is constantly increasing. It is connected with the transformation of social media into key arenas for political mobilization and the formation of public opinion. In conditions of intensified censorship and information warfare, hashtags demonstrate the ability to unite disparate voices, create waves of solidarity, and circumvent restrictions, making protest movements visible and influential. The aim of this study is a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of social media as platforms for resistance and an examination of the key characteristics of hashtags as an effective means of mobilization in decentralized movements. We seek to determine how hashtags influence the dynamics of protests and the formation of public opinion. The research methods included a theoretical analysis of scholarly literature on media communications, political sociology, and digital activism, as well as a comparative analysis of specific case studies of hashtag usage in protest movements. Examples studied ranged from the «Arab Spring» to #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo, #FridaysForFuture, protests in Hong Kong, and the Ukrainian experience of resistance in the context of the full-scale invasion. The study examines how hashtags have evolved from simple tags into powerful political symbols and catalysts for collective action. It is noted that they perform key functions: mobilization, communication, identification, and symbolic ones. It is analyzed that the speed of information dissemination via hashtags accelerates the formation of public opinion, although it also contributes to its fragmentation. Their significant impact on information warfare is highlighted, where hashtags are used to spread narratives and counterpropaganda. Specifically, the Ukrainian experience of resistance is described, which demonstrates society’s ability for long-term resilience and adaptation through continuous digital communication, emphasizing the deep integration of hashtags into national security and resistance mechanisms.
