В пошуках ідеалу: взірцевий громадянин у колективних уявленнях афінян класичного періоду

Abstract

Розглянуто колективні уявлення афінян про образ ідеального громадянина у класичний період на матеріалі писемних джерел (промов ораторів, епіграфіки – епітафій та гоноративних написів). Визначено, що у публічній комунікації для характеристики громадян застосовувались «формули», що у суспільній свідомості відповідали позитивному або негативному образу людини. У прагненні засвідчити доброчесність особи, промовці або автори написів звертались до тих якостей людини, котрі відповідали пануючому в соціумі образу взірцевого доброчесного громадянина. The collective perceptions of Athenians about the image of the ideal citizen during the classical period have been considered based on written sources (speeches of orators, epigraphy – epitaphs and honorific inscriptions). It has been determined that in public communication, “formulas” were used to characterize citizens, which corresponded to a positive or negative image of a person in the public consciousness. In an effort to demonstrate a person’s honesty, speakers or authors of inscriptions referred to those qualities of a person that corresponded to the prevailing societal image of an exemplary virtuous citizen.
