Особливості розвитку аналітичної етики в «теорії справедливості» Джона Роулза

Abstract

The article attempts to analyze the influence of the philosophical environment that contributed to the development of John Rawls’ concepts by analyzing the sources cited by the author. Even today, 50 years after the publication of his most famous and influential philosophical and ethical concept, The Theory of Justice, after his influential and detailed critique, Rawls’ idea remains undisclosed. Rawls pays great attention to the perception of the social contract not only as a contract in a particular association of people, concluded to establish a particular form of government, but as a methodological level of abstraction of understanding the basics of human coexistence. It was determined that the main idea of his concept of justice is to build the principles of justice as objects of the initial conditions and thus as the basic structure of society as a whole. Although it is still far from analytical philosophy with its strict adherence to the factual basis and rigid fixation of its elements in language, but at the same time thanks to the methods and principles of analytical philosophy Rawls manages to turn the idea of social contract into a methodological scheme. An analysis of the sources used by Rawls allows us to better understand exactly how and on what grounds the American philosopher makes this rethinking. Moreover, the analysis of sources allows us to explain Rawls’ next steps in transforming the theory of the social contract into a methodological and analytical scheme similar to the mathematical one. Thus, when constructing one’s own modern analysis of the Theory of Justice, it will be appropriate to begin it with an assessment and understanding of the sources that formed its basis and acted as a catalyst for the philosopher's thought. The study of sources thus provides an opportunity to get closer to the philosophical core of the concept itself. It is known that, unlike his predecessors, he puts rational individuals pursuing their interests in the starting position behind the “curtain of ignorance”, which, in our opinion, can be called a feature of Rawls’ application of analytical philosophy to the Kantian idea of the starting position. using the “veil of ignorance” the author managed to create a fully controlled environment for the implementation of an imaginary experiment. Thus, it will be appropriate in constructing one’s own modern analysis of the Theory of Justice to begin with an assessment and understanding of the sources that formed its basis and acted as a catalyst for the philosopher’s thought. The study of sources thus provides an opportunity to get closer to the philosophical core of the concept itself. У статті реалізовано спробу з’ясувати вплив філософського середовища, що сприяло розвитку концепцій Джона Роулза шляхом аналізу джерел, на які посилається автор. Навіть нині, через 50 років після видання його найвідомішої та найвпливовішої філософсько-етичної концепції – «Теорії справедливості», після детальної її критики ідея Роулза залишається не розкритою в повному об’ємі. Роулз приділяє велику увагу сприйняттю суспільного договору не лише як договору в якомусь конкретному об’єднанні людей, укладеному для встановлення якоїсь конкретної форми правління, а як певному методологічному рівню абстракції розуміння основ співіснування людей. Він підкреслює, що основною ідеєю його концепції справедливості є побудова принципів справедливості як об’єктів вихідної угоди і таким чином як базисної структури суспільства загалом. Хоча це ще досить далеко від аналітичної філософії з її суворим дотриманням фактичної бази та жорсткою фіксацією її елементів у мові, водночас завдяки методам та принципам аналітичної філософії Роулзу вдається перетворити ідею суспільного договору на певну методологічну схему. Аналіз використаних ним джерел дає змогу краще розуміти, як саме і на яких підставах американський філософ робить це переосмислення. Крім того, аналіз джерел дозволяє пояснити і подальші кроки Роулза в перетворенні теорії суспільного договору на методологічно-аналітичну схему, подібну до математичної. Як відомо, на відміну від попередників, він поміщає раціональних індивідів, що переслідують свої інтереси, у вихідному положенні за «завісу незнання», що, на нашу думку, можна назвати особливістю застосування Роулзом методів аналітичної філософії до кантіанської ідеї вихідного положення, оскільки саме завдяки використанню «завіси незнання» автору вдалося створити повністю контрольоване середовище для втілення уявного експерименту. Таким чином, доречно власний сучасний аналіз «Теорії справедливості» розпочати з оцінки та розуміння джерел, які лягли в її основу та виступили каталізатором думки філософа. Дослідження джерел дає змогу наблизитися до філософського ядра самої концепції.
