Abstract: The article analyzes one of the most popular practical indexes in the study of transformational processes and countries moving to sustainable democratic development. The transition to demoralization is a global, nonlinear macrosocial process of spreading democracy as a form of political organization of society. The process of transition to democracy is a dynamic aspect of the historical transformation of the theory and practice of democracy from its ancient and up-to-date models. Democratization as a process of building and spreading democracy is moving in two distinct but parallel directions: the spread of effective collective choice technology and the growth of both the number of democratic communities (by involving the population in broader political participation) and the expansion of the world community of democracies (by their interdependence at the global level). The urgency of the article is due to the fact that the use of the index in the study of democratic development is one of the most popular practical tools for measuring democracy. The purpose of this article is to analyze the program “Freedom in the world” in the study of democratic political processes. Analyzing the methodology and specifics of the “Freedom in the world” index, systematic, institutional and structural-functional methods of scientific research were used. As a result, it is concluded that the use of empirical data in the integrated approach to democratic transformations allows much deeper and better to investigate the state of transformational processes in different countries of the world.
