Abstract: This article focuses on the concept of self-awareness of a person; in particular, the peculiarities of future teachers’ professional self-awareness are defined. The peculiarities of education development require the high level of future teachers’ professional training, as well as the study of the psychological characteristics of their professional self-awareness. The study of the structure of self-awareness, the dynamics of its development is of great interest, both theo- retically and in practice, because it allows you to explore the mechanisms of future specialist’s personality formation. Having analyzed the different approaches to understanding the professional self-awareness, we have found out that it is, first of all, a person’s understanding of his membership of a particular occupational group, learning and self-assessment of competencies and attitudes towards them. It is the awareness of oneself as the subject of one’s professional activity. Various interpretations of the term "professional self-awareness" reflect different aspects of this broad concept. They are not contradictory, but rather complementary. The professional having sufficient level of self-awareness is more con- fident and satisfied with his profession; he strives for self-actualization. Professional self-awareness is changing in the process of professionalization. It is expanding; the criteria of evaluating professional capabilities are changing. Thus, professional self-awareness is one of the leading components of an individual’s professional development. A promising direction for further research in the context of the chosen topic is the study of industry characteristics of future teacher’s professional self-awareness. У даній статті проаналізовано поняття самосвідомості особистості, зокрема визначено особливості професійної самосвідомості. Особливо детально розглянуто процес формування професійної самосвідомості педагогічних працівників.
