A comparative study on the translation of culture-loaded words in the Joy Luck Club from the perspective o functional translation theory

Abstract

The functionalist translation theory takes skopos theory and loyalty principle as the core. It emphasizes that the purpose of the translator plays a decisive role in the whole act of translation, and considers that it is necessary to consider the changeable relations among the original author, translator and target reader, and adopt appropriate translation strategies to achieve different translation purposes.
