Специфіка психологічного підходу до вивчення сім'ї як системи міжособистісних взаємодій, її структури (статево-віковою і рольової) та функцій (захист індивіда від маніпулятивних впливів суспільства і пристосування його до життя в цьому суспільстві). Психологія сім’ї – міждисциплінарний напрямок у психології, який вивчає проблеми шлюбу і сім’ї, включає широкий спектр даних для формування різного роду соціальних і психологічних програм та рекомендацій, спрямованих на допомогу сім’ї.
