Abstract

In the early twentieth century, African Americans began migrating from rural areas of the southern United States to the urban northern part of the country. The brutal exploitation of blacks in the south deprived them of their most basic political rights, fortune, and peonage, as a remnant of slavery in the south and the Jimcrowism system led to the relocation of part of the Negro population to the north. And although migrants were received there not without problems, this region, in their opinion, was the only refuge.
