Синтаксичні особливості автоматизованого перекладу науково-технічної літератури

Abstract

Актуальність дослідження проблем перекладу науково-технічної літератури, викладеної англійською мовою, пояснюється тим, що англійська мова в наші часи стала засобом глобальної комунікації. Близько 50% наукових і технічних публікацій виходять англійською мовою. Унаслідок цього суттєва увага науковців приділяється теорії і практиці перекладу науково-технічної інформації, викладеної англійською мовою. У статті визначено особливості науково-технічного перекладу, основною з яких є необхідність поєднання знання іноземної мови з професійним знанням відповідної галузі науки й техніки. Проаналізовано особливості синтаксичної структури речення науково-технічних текстів в англійській та українській мовах. Проведено аналіз синтаксичних особливостей автоматизованого перекладу науково-популярних текстів з проблем екології. Результати проведеного дослідження представлено у вигляді таблиці, у якій наведено оригінальний текст, комп’ютерний (машинний) переклад, автоматизований варіант перекладу з редагуванням автора й аналіз синтаксичних відмінностей комп’ютерного й автоматизованого перекладу. З порівняння комп’ютерного й автоматизованого варіантів перекладу наукових текстів і на підставі власного досвіду доведено, що в англійській та українській мовах інформація синтаксично може подаватися по-різному. Це зумовлено особливостями мов щодо подачі тематичних і рематичних елементів речення і традиціями мовлення стосовно подання інформації. Через цю та деякі інші причини необхідно здійснювати синтаксичну трансформацію під час редагування комп’ютерного варіанта перекладу. Зроблено висновок, що знання синтаксичних особливостей англійської й української мов дає змогу уникнути спотворення змісту речення та звести до мінімуму неточності комп’ютерного перекладу під час редагування в автоматизованому режимі. The relevance of research into the problems of translation of scientific and technical literature, presented in English, is explained by the fact that English is nowadays a means of global communication. About 50% of scientific and technical publications are in English. As a result, the considerable attention of scientists is drawn to the theory and practice of translating scientific and technical information outlined in English. The article identifies the features of scientific and technical translation, the main of which is the need to combine knowledge of a foreign language with professional knowledge of the relevant field of science and technology. The peculiarities of the syntactic structure of the sentence of scientific and technical texts in English and Ukrainian are analyzed. An analysis of the syntactic features of the automated translation of popular science texts on environmental problems has been carried out. The results of the study are presented in the form of a table, which shows the original text, computer (machine) translation, an automated version of the translation with the author's editing, and an analysis of syntactic differences of computer and automated translation. Comparing computer and automated versions of the translation of scientific texts and based on their own experience, it is proved that in English and Ukrainian languages information can be syntactically presented differently. This is due to the peculiarities of languages in the presentation of thematic and rhematic elements of the sentence and the traditions of speech regarding the presentation of information. For this and some other reasons, it is necessary to perform a syntactic transformation when editing a computer translation. It is concluded that knowledge of syntactic features of English and Ukrainian languages avoids distortion of the content of the sentence and minimizes the inaccuracy of computer translation when editing in automated mode.
