Digital platforms as a tool for public participation in local government

Abstract

In modern democratic societies, expanding public participation in the management of local affairs is a key factor in increasing the legitimacy of government and the effectiveness of public administration. Digital platforms are becoming a commercial tool of political communication, ensuring interactivity, efficiency and accessibility of interaction between citizens and local government bodies. In the context of decentralization reforms in Ukraine, the active implementation of digital mechanisms of participation in promoting the development of e-democracy, increasing public control and forming new formats of public governance. At the same time, foreign risks of the digital divide, insufficient inclusiveness of technological solutions and cybersecurity threats, which require systematic scientific understanding. The question arises of analyzing the possibilities and opportunities for using digital platforms in local government, as well as outlining the prospects for the development of digital democracy in Ukraine and European countries.
