A method for measuring semantic distance in assessing vocalists` creativity

Abstract

The study is devoted to the problem of developing the creativity of student vocalists as the basis of their ability to create expressive musical interpretation and improvisation. The Semantic Distance Measurement (MSD) is considered as a tool for assessing creativity, offering insight into the cognitive processes underlying creative expression. By quantifying associative links between concepts, MSD can improve understanding of the cognitive underpinnings of students' creativity, guide pedagogical interventions and create a supportive learning environment. The findings suggest that the use of MSD in vocal training can also contribute to the development of a curriculum that promotes the artistic growth and professional fulfilment of vocalists.
