Abstract: Confucius’ thought of “love” has two characteristics: one is universal fraternity (or brotherhood), the other is second-rate love. Among them, universal fraternity involves love to family, monarchs, officials and friends. Poor love (second-rate love) comes from human love and “empathy”. Confucius’ love is compared with Mozi’s love: the former emphasizes that love is bad, while the latter emphasizes that love is good; The former is more in line with human nature and more artistic than the latter; the spiritual essence of the two is the same. Compared with Christianity’s concept of “love”, the former is mild and the latter is extreme; The first one advocates love with difference on the surface, but actually advocates fraternity, while the other one advocates fraternity on the surface, but love with difference on the essence.
