Abstract: Education reform in Ukraine requires a new type of management of educational institutions, in particular secondary schools. Communicative characteristics of the head – the key to successful implementation of his professional functions, as the educational process is built on the laws of communication. The article presents the results of empirical research of communicative skills of heads of male and female secondary schools. The results indicate differences in communicative characteristics in the male and female samples of school principals. Studies show that the gender factor specifically affects the style of communication, as well as methods, tools and techniques of interaction with the subjects of the educational process.
